Armenia fields rwo lifters at European Championships on Monday

Armenia will have two representatives in action at the European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi, Georgia, on Monday as the continental competition continues through April 26.

Garnik Cholakyan will compete in the men’s 60 kg division, with his session scheduled to commence at 12:00 local time, while Aleksandra Grigoryan is set to appear in the women’s 58 kg category at 18:00.

Armenia has entered full squads in both the men’s and women’s competitions. The women’s lineup features Tanzela Grigoryan and Isabella Yaylyan (53 kg), Aleksandra Grigoryan (58 kg), Anna Amroyan and Alina Sukiasyan (77 kg), Emma Poghosyan and Liana Gyurjyan (86 kg), and Tatev Hakobyan (+86 kg). The team is overseen by head coach Artashes Nersisyan, with Taron Tovmasyan as assistant.

The men’s team includes Garnik Cholakyan (60 kg), Gor Sahakyan (71 kg), Martin Poghosyan (79 kg), Rafik Harutyunyan (88 kg), Ara Aghanyan (94 kg), Olympic medalist Simon Martirosyan and Garik Karapetyan (both 110 kg), and Varazdat Lalayan (+110 kg). The squad is led by head coach Hakob Pilosyan, assisted by Davit Muradyan.
